Sylvia Westphal

Sylvia Westphal is the Owner of Herringbone & Brass since September 2020 and has held the position of Managing Director for the Client Experience Group at MGS Group Real Estate LTD since August 2021. Westphal also actively contributes as a Volunteer and Advisor at the Women's Foundation of Boston. Formerly, Westphal served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Milton Academy from January 2015 to May 2023 and worked as a Freelance Healthcare and Op-ed Writer from January 2007 to September 2020, with notable contributions to The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Boston Globe among others. Westphal's earlier editorial roles include Editor for Boston Biotech Conferences, Op-ed and Editorial Writer for The Boston Globe, Staff Writer for The Wall Street Journal and New Scientist, and Reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Educationally, Westphal holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University, completed the MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellowship, and has a background in Science Journalism from Boston University, along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology from Universidad de Puerto Rico.
