Dean Charles, Psy.D., LP has a diverse range of work experience in the field of psychology. Dean began their career as a Research Assistant at St. Olaf College, where they conducted research on ethanol place preference in adolescent mice. Following this, they worked as a Practicum Student at Pacific University, gaining experience under the supervision of Dr. Cathy Moonshine, Ph.D., MAC, CADC III.

Dean then joined the Hazelden Foundation as a Practicum Student and later as a Wellness Specialist on-call, working under the supervision of Dr. Charity Benham and Dr. Susan Hall. Dean also served as a Senior Clinician at Hazelden Plymouth, performing legal and chemical use assessments and treating co-occurring disorders in an outpatient setting.

Dean's next role was as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Pennsylvania Counseling Services, where they were the lead counselor at Crossroads, a long-term residential treatment center for individuals seeking chemical dependency treatment. Dean also worked part-time at an outpatient clinic, providing mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Dean then joined InAct @ Volunteers of America as a Student Clinician, conducting A&D assessments, mental health assessments, and providing individual and group therapy. Dean also developed a DBT skills group during their time there.

Continuing their career, Dean became a Licensed Psychologist at Healing Connections Therapy Center, specializing in DBT. Dean co-facilitated skills and intensive outpatient DBT groups and provided individual therapy to clients with various mental health issues.

Currently, Dean works at MHS (Mental Health Systems, Inc.), initially as a Licensed Psychologist, where they facilitated DBT group therapy, provided individual therapy, and supervised others. Dean later became the Clinic Lead, overseeing the daily operations of MHS Roseville and Apple Valley, including staffing, program development, and policy implementation. Dean currently holds the position of Vice President of Clinical Implementation at MHS.

Dean Charles, Psy.D., LP has an extensive education history in the field of psychology. Dean first attended St. Olaf College from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued higher education at Pacific University from 2005 to 2007. During this time, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Clinical Psychology. Later, from 2007 to 2010, Dean Charles completed their Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology at Pacific University.

In addition to their formal education, Dean Charles has obtained various certifications. In September 2017, they received certification in Dialectical Behavior Therapy from Evergreen Certifications. Dean is also a Licensed Psychologist, licensed by the Minnesota Board of Psychology, although the specific dates of licensure are not provided.
