Melvin Mitchell, CHCM, CHMM, CSP has extensive experience in the field of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management. Melvin is currently serving as the Environmental, Health and Safety Director at MI Metals, Inc. Their responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of EHS compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, regional, and local regulations. Melvin also manages environmental permits and minimizes risks associated with business practices.

Prior to their current role, Melvin worked as the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety at Mountain Ridge Metals, where they were in charge of maintaining compliance with regulations, managing environmental permits, and mitigating risks.

Before joining Mountain Ridge Metals, Melvin held the position of Environmental, Health and Safety Director at MI Metals, Inc., where they managed environmental compliance for multiple aluminum extrusion facilities nationwide. Melvin focused on permits, hazardous materials management, employee training, and ensuring OSHA compliance.

Melvin's earlier experience includes serving as the Safety Director at JT Walker Industries, Inc., the Environmental, Safety, and Health Manager at Thermalex/Thermasys Inc., and the NCOIC Wing Safety at Maxwell AFB, AL. Melvin also worked as a Loadmaster/Gate Lead at America West Airlines and held various roles related to safety and asbestos abatement management at the 99th Civil Engineering Squadron, Nellis AFB, NV.

Melvin began their career as a Recruiter in the United States Air Force. With their diverse background and expertise in EHS management, they bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to their current role as an EHS professional.

Melvin Mitchell, CHCM, CHMM, CSP, holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Safety from Columbia Southern University, which they obtained from 2002 to 2012. Prior to that, they earned an Associate's degree in Occupational Safety and Health from the Community College of the Air Force, completing their studies in 2000. In addition to their education, Melvin has obtained several certifications including Certified Hazardous Materials Manager from the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management in 2013, Certified Safety Professional from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in 2012, and Certified Hazard Control Manager from the International Board for Certification of Safety Managers in 2002. Melvin also holds a Private Pilot license obtained in 1998. Furthermore, Melvin is a General Industry Outreach Trainer, having completed the training at the OSHA Training Institute at the University of South Florida in 2005.
