Brittany Shammas is an experienced reporter with a diverse background in journalism. Since September 2019, Brittany has been working at The Washington Post, focusing on various reporting tasks. Concurrently, Brittany has been contributing to the Miami New Times since 2016, specializing in longform cover stories and blog posts centered on South Florida issues. Prior experience includes education reporting at the South Florida Sun Sentinel from June 2013 to July 2016, and covering prekindergarten to higher education at the Naples Daily News from September 2011 to June 2013. Brittany's journalistic journey began with internships at The Indianapolis Star, The Grand Rapids Press, and The Gazette, and Brittany also held the position of Managing Editor at The State News during college at Michigan State University, where Brittany earned a B.A. in Journalism and History.
