Jonathan W. Sager

EVP & Special Counsel at MIB

After serving as General Counsel for the past 16 years (2005-2021), Jonathan is now serving as Special Counsel until his planned retirement at the end of 2021. He was appointed Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2005 and was promoted to Executive Vice President in 2010. He also served as MIB's Chief Privacy Officer. Mr. Sager has extensive experience in life and health insurance as well as expertise in privacy, security, employment, corporate and commercial law. Prior to joining MIB, he acted as Senior Counsel, Insurance Operations and Litigation, and Chief Privacy Officer of MONY Life Insurance Company for 17 years. He also served as counsel to the Health Care Affairs division of Excellus Health Plan in Rochester, New York and counsel to the life and health insurance practice group of the Hinman Straub law firm in Albany, New York. Mr. Sager is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel, and a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and Florida State Bar. Mr. Sager holds a J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, VA, where he served as Note and Comment Editor for Washington & Lee Law Review and a B.A. from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.
