Laura is an Associate in Michelmores' family team. She advises clients in relation to all aspects of private family law. Her strong belief is that it is best for her clients, and their families, if they can reach their goals as amicably and cost-effectively as possible via an out of court settlement or agreement, and she works with them to try to achieve this in every case. However, Laura does acknowledge this is not always possible and, where Court proceedings are necessary, she will represent her clients robustly and strongly.
Laura advises in relation to divorce and related financial claims, cohabitation disputes, applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act and has considerable experience in drafting marital agreements. She has also built a strong private law children practice, both in international and domestic matters, and regularly represents applicants and respondents in injunction cases.
She trained at a top ranked firm in London and qualified into their family department in 2009, focussing predominantly on high net worth matters, often with an international element. Laura then relocated to the South West (where she grew up) in 2013 after a career break in Switzerland and New Zealand during which she trained as a ski instructor. Laura joined a leading regional firm and continued to build her experience in matters involving complex and high value financial arrangements, farm businesses, family companies, trusts and occupational pensions amongst others. She joined Michelmores in September 2022.
She believes in building strong relationships with her clients and always aims to balance pragmatic, sensible advice with empathy and sensitivity at what is always a difficult time for people.
