Jeff Groom

Jeff Groom is an experienced professional with a diverse background in recruitment, education, and law enforcement. Currently serving as Recruiting and Retention 1SG with the Michigan Army National Guard since October 2021, Jeff has held various roles within the organization since 2010, including positions as Recruiting & Retention Battalion Automation NCOIC and Michigan Army National Guard Recruiter. Prior to this, Jeff taught 5th-grade students at Ionia Public Schools and Endeavor Charter Academy, and served as a police officer with the Belding Police Department, where responsibilities included defensive tactics instruction. Jeff's law enforcement career began as a Deputy Sheriff with Ionia County Sheriff Department, where a community policing initiative was implemented. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Ferris State University and is pursuing a Master's degree in Health Services Administration at Central Michigan University.
