Michigan Lottery
Karen Ruple is an experienced education consultant with a significant background in supporting Title I schools. Since September 2006, Ruple has worked at the Michigan Department of Education, managing the Statewide System of Support for high-priority Title I schools and coordinating Process Mentor Teams to analyze student achievement data. Previously, Ruple served as a School Improvement Consultant at Kent ISD from January 2000 to September 2010, where responsibilities included administering grants for Title I schools. Ruple began a career in education as a teacher at Godfrey-Lee Public Schools, teaching grades 2 to 4 and serving as a Curriculum Resource teacher for grades 2 to 5 from August 1985 to December 1999. Ruple holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Communications from Western Michigan University and a Master’s degree in Education from Michigan State University.

The Michigan Lottery was founded in 1972 to provide entertaining games of chance which deliver revenue to the state School Aid Fund. Today, the Michigan Lottery has a retail network of more than 10,500 local businesses offering our portfolio of products. About 97 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to vendors and retailers. In the 2021 fiscal year, the Lottery provided more than $1.4 billion for Michigan’s public schools, its seventh record contribution.
