Denise Quarles is currently a trustee at Michigan Women Forward. Prior to that, they served on the board of the Michigan Women's Studies Association from July 2014 to March 2018. In this role, they helped set policy, oversaw finances, and hired the Executive Director of the Michigan Women's Denise'storical Center and Hall of Fame. The mission of the organization is to celebrate Michigan Women's history, promote educational opportunities and honor the accomplishments of Michigan women. This is carried out by annually conducting an awards dinner to honor new inductees into the Hall of Fame, operating a museum honoring past and current inductees as well as cultural and historical exhibits celebrating the accomplishments of Michigan women.
From July 2018 to July 2020, Denise served as Vice Chair of the International Nominating Committee for Zonta International. In this role, they were responsible for helping to elect the slate of candidates for the 2020-2022 Zonta International Board/Foundation Board and the International Nominating Committee.
Denise has also served as International Director for Zonta International from July 2010 to July 2014.
Denise Quarles has a MA in Sociology from the University of Detroit Mercy and a BS in Sociology from Eastern Michigan University.
