Claire Birrell has been working in the clinical development field since 1997. Claire began their career as a Clinical Research Scientist at ML Labs in 1997. In 1999, they moved to GlaxoSmithKline and held the roles of Medical Genetics Scientist and Senior Clinical Research Scientist. In 2006, they worked as a Senior Clinical Project Manager at Cambridge Antibody Technology. In 2007, they rejoined MedImmune as a Senior Clinical Project Manager and was promoted to Senior Clinical Scientist in 2010. From 2016 to 2021, they held various roles at VHsquared Ltd., including VP of Clinical Development, Head of Clinical Development, and Clinical Project Director. Most recently, they were appointed as the Managing Director of Bel Clinical Ltd. in 2021 and is currently the VP of Clinical Development at Microbiotica.
Claire Birrell obtained their PhD in Behavioural Pharmacology from the University of Dundee in 1997, following their BSc in Pharmacology from the same university, which they obtained in 1992.
