Microfluidics Engineer at MicrofluidX

Maria Kalli has diverse work experience in various industries. Maria is currently working as a Microfluidics Engineer at MicrofluidX, where they are responsible for rapid prototyping of microfluidic devices for Cell & Gene Therapy. Their role also includes designing and carrying out experiments, performing simulations, and comparing results.

Prior to their current position, Maria worked as a Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at UCL. In this role, they supervised a team of PhD students, taught experimentation at the undergraduate level, and explained complex concepts to students, assisting them in brainstorming.

Maria also worked as a Project Consultant at Domino Printing, where they formulated and tested hypotheses to improve the printing process of consumer-packed goods. Maria collaborated closely with the client's R&D department and delivered a proof of concept using experimental techniques and fluid simulation software.

Additionally, Maria gained experience as a Project Engineer Summer Intern at ExxonMobil, where they participated in equipment performance optimization, simulated safety standards, and identified areas for improvement to increase profit. Maria also worked as a Project Manager Summer Intern at Mace, where they served as a project management consultant for the Biopharm Department and communicated with consultants, scientists, and clients.

Maria has further experience as a Student Mentor at UCL, a Piano Teacher at the European Conservatory of Music, and a Country Representative at LIYSF. Maria also worked as a Laboratory Assistant at Charis Charilaou Biomedical Laboratory.

Maria Kalli's education history begins in 2007 when they attended G C School of Careers, where they obtained their High School Leaving Certificate - Apolitirion. Between 2014 and 2018, Maria pursued their undergraduate studies at UCL, completing a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering (MEng degree). Following their undergraduate studies, Maria continued their education at UCL from 2018 to 2022, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Maria also acquired a certification in "Python for Non-Programmers" from LinkedIn in July 2022.
