Desmond Britland has a diverse and extensive work experience in finance and accounting. Desmond started their career as a Trainee Accountant at HLB Grant Clinton & Associates in 1998 and worked their way up to become an Audit Manager in 2003. Desmond then moved on to work as a Finance Accountant at Chrysalis Books from 2003 to 2005.
Desmond joined Ernst & Young in 2005, where they served as a Business Risk Services-Client Services Executive & Sarbanes Oxley team member until 2007. Desmond then joined IFS Defence as a Project and Financial Accountant from 2007 to 2008 and later became a Finance Manager from 2009 to 2010.
In 2010, Desmond joined IFS, where they held several positions, including Senior Finance Manager from 2010 to 2011, Finance Director - IFS Defence Ltd from 2012 to 2014, and Financial Controller - IFS UK from 2014 to 2016.
Desmond also gained experience working as a Year-End Accountant at Mineral Resources Limited in 2016 and as a Finance Manager at DownUnder GeoSolutions from 2016 to 2017.
Since 2017, Desmond has been working at MICROMINE, initially serving as the Chief Financial Officer until January 2020, and currently holding the position of Head of Commercial Finance.
In addition to their corporate roles, Desmond also served as a Non-Executive Director at Perma Products SA (Pty) Ltd from 2003 to 2017, providing finance solutions and strategic advice for the family business, a plastic injection molding company.
Desmond Britland ACA FCCA has a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, which they obtained from 1996 to 2000. Before their university education, they attended Northwood High School in Durban, South Africa from 1992 to 1995. Additionally, they have pursued professional qualifications in accounting and auditing from the ICAEW and ACCA. More recently, in 2019, they enrolled in the Australian Institute of Company Directors, indicating a continued commitment to professional development.
