Derk Kooi

Derk Kooi is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research AI4Science, specializing in theoretical chemistry with a focus on pharmacochemistry and medicine. They have held multiple academic positions, including PhD Candidate and various research internships at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where they developed advanced methods in Density Functional Theory. Derk has actively engaged in teaching and supervising students at both high school and university levels since 2014. In addition to their professional work, they serve on the Board of the Dutch Society against Quackery and volunteer at a petting zoo during their spare time.
