Pedro Las-Casas is a Senior Research Software Engineer at Microsoft, currently contributing to the Azure Research - Systems group. Previously, Pedro held positions as a Software Engineer at Cyral, where they focused on observability, data access control, and threat detection, and as a Visiting Research Fellow at Brown University, developing a machine learning tool for distributed tracing. Pedro also gained experience as a Research Intern at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, where they created a scalable sampling tool for distributed traces. Pedro is pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, in addition to holding a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the same field from notable Brazilian institutions.
