John W. Caton

John W. Caton is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in RF and photonic design, currently serving as Principal Engineer at Microwave Photonic Systems since June 2020. Previously, John held prominent roles at EMCORE Corporation, including Senior Director of Navigation Engineering and Senior Director of Research and Development, focusing on Fiber Optic Gyroscopes and navigation technologies. Additional experience includes leadership positions at L-3 Communications, JDSU, and various defense and aerospace firms, where John managed engineering teams and spearheaded product development across telecommunications and military applications. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Digital Signal Processing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
