Jamie Varner

Chief Executive Officer at Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems

Jamie Varner has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. In 1987, they began their career as a Systems Engineer at GE Aerospace Division, focusing on communication satellite design and support for the US Navy. During their time there, they designed attitude control systems for communication satellites and received the GE Quality Improvement Award.

In 1991, Varner joined NCC, LP, a privately held convenience store distributor, as the Vice President of Administration and Information Systems. In this role, they were responsible for managing the company's Information Systems, Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Purchasing functions. Jamie also played a key role in strategic and operational planning as a member of the senior leadership team.

In 1995, Varner became the President/CFO of JESCO, Inc, a custom paperboard packaging manufacturer and marketer. Jamie successfully completed four acquisitions, including due diligence, negotiating purchase agreements, obtaining financing, and integrating business operations. Additionally, they set up a new manufacturing facility from scratch.

From 2004 to 2005, Varner worked as an Independent Consultant under their own company, Varner & Associates. During this time, they provided business consulting services, including developing and implementing information and inventory control systems, supporting a vending machine developer in refining their business model, and performing due diligence for venture capitalist investments.

Varner joined Hetrick & Associates, P.C., a public accounting firm, in 2006 as an Associate Public Accountant. Jamie advised clients on strategic planning, operations, accounting/business processes and systems, and taxes. Jamie also improved internal systems by expanding the use of technology.

In 2008, Varner joined the National Parks Conservation Association as a Senior Director. Jamie was responsible for all operational and financial activities of the Center for Park Management. This included financial forecasting, budgeting, tracking, and reporting, negotiating contracts, overseeing recruiting, and developing strategic plans. Jamie led successful consulting projects with the National Park Service on various initiatives.

Most recently, in 2017, Varner became the Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems.

Jamie Varner's education history begins in 1982 when they attended the University of Delaware. They pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, completing the programs in 1987 and 1986 respectively.

Afterwards, Jamie enrolled at The Wharton School in 1989 and completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree by 1991. The field of study for their MBA is not specified.

In terms of additional certifications, Jamie obtained a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the Maryland Board of Public Accountancy in March 2007. Furthermore, they obtained a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute in May 2011.
