Duy R. Beck brings a most unique array of talents and skills to Firm, drawn from experiences that are as compelling as they are character building. From an Industry perspective, Duy has deep industry experience in Media, Film and Entertainment and across all types and aspects of Real Estate – financing, development, commercial, residential, mixed use, restaurant, hotel and hospitality, financing, sales and development. Duy recently closed a series A round for a logistics/transportation company servicing Amazon.
Duy's biological father passed before he was born in Viet Nam during the War, forcing his birth mother, aunt, & cousin to flee to a refugee camp in SE Asia. Upon receipt of sponsorship, the surviving family immigrated to the US with only the clothes on their backs. With the very difficult circumstances -- escape, refugee camp experience, and separation from his birth mother, Duy was placed into foster care and after multiple attempts was adopted. With a minority achievement scholarship and his Marine G.I. bill, Duy graduated with honors from the University of Utah in business management & marketing. He served nearly 7 years with the Marines reserves and completed his enlistment in his infantry unit as a HELO-infantry platoon Sergeant. Duy subsequently graduated with an executive MBA Magna cum laude from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Wallstreet Journal’s #1 International ranked Business School.
Prior to Mid-Market Securities, LLC, Duy was a Managing Partner of First National Finance & Equity and helped recruit, develop, and train its sales force. He was a Founding Member of the University Venture Fund, an early stage venture capital firm; performing due diligence for start-ups raising $2 - $20+ M in venture capital with VC Firms. Prior to working in Finance, Duy was a Partner in the Virtua Group, an RMIS (risk management information systems) software company and served as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing.
Duy was a pharmaceutical representative for Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals, driving sales in the Salt Lake market to #1 in the nation for his lead product, earning leadership awards and Pfizer’s prestigious global humanitarian award, the W.E. Upjohn Community Service Award; one of 23 of over 122,000 employees. Prior to working for Pfizer, he was the owner/operator of Global Access, Inc, a retail telecommunications company, which he co-founded, branded, merged, and sold.
Earlier, Duy was named as one of Cosmopolitan Magazine’s Top Bachelors in the U.S., competed in the FORD Ironman 70.3 World Championships, coached H.S. volleyball, judged cultural & beauty pageants, and summited Mt. Kilimanjaro.
