Middle East Institute
Marvin Weinbaum is a Scholar-in-Residence at the Middle East Institute since 2003. Prior to this role, Marvin worked as an Intelligence and Research Analyst for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the US Department of State from 1999 to 2003. Marvin also served as a Professor of Political Science at the University of Illinois from 1965 to 1998. Marvin holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University, as well as MA and BA degrees in Political Science and Government from the University of Michigan and Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.

Middle East Institute
Founded in 1946, the Middle East Institute (MEI) is the oldest Washington, DC-based institution dedicated exclusively to the study of the Middle East. Its founders, scholar George Camp Keiser and former US Secretary of State Christian Herter laid out a simple mandate: “to increase knowledge of the Middle East among the citizens of the United States and to promote a better understanding between the people of these two areas.” MEI is a respected, non-partisan voice in the field of Middle East studies.
