Summer D. has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Summer started their career as an Institutional Advancement Event Management team member at West Virginia University in 2004, where they worked on planning and executing events according to the university's marketing objectives.

In 2006, Summer joined Sorrento Lingue as a Director's Assistant, where they served as the academy liaison and played a crucial role in contract negotiation and strategy development. Summer successfully increased the marketability of exchange programs to the U.S.

From 2007 onwards, Summer has been associated with the Middlesex Water Company, gradually progressing through various roles. Summer began as a Communications Specialist, supporting corporate communications, community relations, and investor relations. Summer later became a Communications Coordinator, taking up additional responsibilities as the Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and a member of the Emergency Management Committee. In 2018, Summer was promoted to Communications Manager, furthering their involvement in internal and external communications, social media, and community outreach. Their most recent role is as the Director of Communications, starting in September 2022, where they continue to lead and oversee communication strategies for the company.

Summer D. attended West Virginia University from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a focus on Public Relations. Prior to their time at West Virginia University, Summer D. studied English Language and Literature at Glenville State College, WV from 1996 to 1998.
