Assay Development Manager at miDiagnostics

Karolien Bettens has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Karolien currently holds the position of Lead Scientist - Assay Product Development at miDiagnostics since October 2021. Prior to this, they served as an Assay Lead at miDiagnostics, where they contributed to the development of rapid, lab-quality diagnostics using silicon chip technology.

Before joining miDiagnostics, Karolien worked at Agilent Technologies from 2017 to 2020. During their time there, they held the roles of Senior R&D Scientist / Manager of Product Development team and R&D Scientist, Product Development. Karolien was responsible for managing the development of commercial products, leading product development teams, and driving process improvement in product development. Karolien also played a key role in launching the SureMASTR HRR assay.

Prior to Agilent Technologies, Karolien worked at Multiplicom N.V. as an R&D Manager from 2015 to 2017. Their responsibilities included leading new product development projects, managing product development and improvement projects, and performing medical writing activities.

Karolien started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at VIB Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Antwerp, from 2010 to 2015. Karolien also completed their PhD in Biomedical Sciences at VIB (Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Antwerp) from 2006 to 2010. Karolien began their professional journey with a Master thesis at the University of Antwerp in 2006.
