David Bird is the Operations Manager for Housing Care & Support at MIDLAND MENCAP. David has over 10 years of experience working in various positions that have helped him gain the skills needed for their current role.
David started their career as a Community Care Assistant with Birmingham City Council in October 2002. In this role, they provided care and support to individuals with learning disabilities. David then became a Person Centred Planning Facilitator in April 2004, helping people with learning disabilities make future housing choices.
In October 2005, David took on the role of Acting Day Centre Officer with Birmingham City Council. In this role, they assisted in the provision of a comprehensive housing brokerage, advice and information service to individuals with learning disabilities, their family or carers.
In March 2006, David joined Midland Mencap as a Housing Pathways Officer. In this role, they helped people with learning disabilities make future housing choices. David then became the Registered Domiciliary Care Manager in September 2006, maintaining a high quality, excellent rated, CQC service delivering in excess of 2500 care and support hours across the City each week.
David has been in their current role as Operations Manager for Housing Care & Support at MIDLAND MENCAP since July 2010. In this role, they manage a group of Care Co-ordinators and Senior Support Workers and ensures that the service provided meets the clients needs as well as maintaining and promoting their dignity and independence.
David Bird works with Lesley Wright - Housing Management Coordinator, Lewis Bull - Maintenance Manager. David Bird reports to Chris Haines, Head of Housing, Care and Support.
