Midlands Connect
Renee van Baar CMILT is a Principal Transport Planner at Midlands Connect, where responsibilities include leading Rural Mobility and Decarbonisation workstreams and managing the development of the Decarbonisation Policy Playbook. With a strong background in transport planning gained through roles at WSP and Sustrans, Renee has developed skills in project management, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Previous positions encompass senior transport planner, project support officer for the National Cycle Network, and volunteer roles in fundraising administration. Educational credentials include a Postgraduate Certificate in Transport from Loughborough University and a Master of Science in Social and Political Sciences of the Environment from Radboud University.
Midlands Connect
Midlands Connect researches, develops and recommends major transport projects which provide the biggest possible economic and social benefits for the Midlands and the rest of the UK. These initiatives will create more capacity for passengers and freight on the Midlands’ roads and railways. As the transport arm of the Midlands Engine, we work with local authorities, LEPs and Chambers of Commerce, as well as Highways England, Network Rail and the Midlands’ two international airports, to ensure national transport projects benefit the Midlands and Midlands projects benefit the nation.
