Rail Strategy Lead at Midlands Connect

Richard Mann has extensive work experience in the rail and transport industry. From 1992 to 2000, they worked as a Senior Consultant at DELTA Railway Group, followed by a role as a Performance Planning Manager at Virgin Trains from 1999 to 2007. During their time at Virgin Trains, they were responsible for track access commercial negotiation and later managed performance planning, reporting, and commercial settlement.

From 2007 to 2009, Richard served as the Planning & Commercial Manager at CrossCountry Trains. In 2011, they joined Transport Paradise as a Principal Consultant, where they conducted research on transportation strategies and published the Bus and Cycle Map for Oxford.

Richard then joined London Midland as a Consultant in 2015, and in 2016, they started working at Midlands Connect. Within Midlands Connect, they held multiple positions, including Rail Programme Manager, Senior Rail Programme Manager, and their current role as Rail Strategy Lead. Richard'snotable contributions include being the author of the MRH SOBC Narrative, which helped secure £20m in funding in March 2020.

Additionally, Richard served as a Trustee at Transport 2000 from 1994 to 1995 and at Low Carbon West Oxford from 2010 to 2016.

Richard Mann pursued their Bachelor's degree in Economics and Politics from Durham University from 1987 to 1990. Subsequently, from 1991 to 1992, they attended the University of Birmingham, where they completed an MSC(Eng) in Operational Research.
