Jessica started their career as a Loan Administrative Secretary at Farm Credit Services of America in 1983, where they handled daily office duties, prepared loan documentation, and assisted customers. In 1988, they became the Managing Owner of JB's Furnish it Mart, a used furniture store where they purchased furniture, sold on consignment, and managed a balloon business on the side. In 1993, they joined Midstates Bank, NA as Vice President of Residential Lending, where they attracted new mortgage loan applications, conducted sales calls, and approved loans.
