Migrants Resilience Collaborative

At the Migrants Resilience Collaborative (MRC), we are on a mission to catalyse systemic change and bridge gaps in social protection for migrant workers. Our collaborative approach brings together government bodies, NGOs, philanthropy, and the private sector to ensure internal migration is safe. MRC is incubated by Jan Sahas, Global Development Incubator, and EdelGive Foundation Why MRC? Millions of workers in India lack access to life-enhancing safety nets that protect them from going deeper into poverty. We launched MRC in 2020 to transform and strengthen India's social protection delivery systems. Our two-pronged strategy provides last-mile access for vulnerable migrants while catalysing systemic change. We combine community-rootedness with rigorous technology and data analytics to drive impactful change. Our Vision: We aspire to build the resilience of 10 million vulnerable migrant households, ensuring access to social protection and unlocking over $4 billion in unspent funding. Simultaneously, we strive to change social protection systems, offering a clear pathway to impact millions more. 1: Implementation for last-mile access ● Facilitating direct access to government social security benefits and worker protections ● Partnering with private sector and Community-Based Organizations to sustainably facilitate social protection 2: Systems change for migrant inclusivity ● Collaborating with central and state governments to identify and test delivery systems that work at scale ● Partnering with industry to nudge social security inclusion into their supply chains across construction, textiles and other sectors with high levels of informal employment Where we stand (as of November 2023): ● Presence in 12 states and 95 districts ● Enabled delivery of 4.5 million social security benefits ● Partnership with 12 leading real estate companies ● Partnership with 17 grassroots organisations ● Collaboration with 4 state governments
