Rainer Baumann

Rainer Baumann serves as the Group Chief Information and Operating Officer at Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund since September 2019, overseeing IT, Technology, Data & Analytics, Digital, Engineering, and Supply Chain Management with a workforce of 6,000 employees. Rainer drives significant transformations within the organization, focusing on digital innovation, cyber security, and strategic partnerships with major technology firms such as Microsoft and Google. Additional roles include being an Executive Committee Member at digitalswitzerland, a member of the Swiss Re Industry Circle, and holding various board positions at migrolino AG, Migrol AG, and Migros Verteilbetrieb AG. Prior experience includes a tenure as CIO & CDO at Swiss Re, leading digital and information services and developing key industry partnerships. Rainer holds multiple degrees from ETH Zurich and extensive professional training through McKinsey and Swiss Re.
