Elin Økstad

Head Of Section Climate Department at Norwegian Environment Agency

Elin Økstad has extensive work experience in the field of environmental management and climate policy. Elin has been working as the Fagdirektør at the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment since January 2019. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Section in the Climate Department at Miljødirektoratet from May 2014. Elin also held the roles of seniorrådgiver, sjefingeniør, and prosjektleder during their time at Miljødirektoratet, where they led various projects including Klimakur in 2010 and bilateral collaborations with China and South Africa. Before joining Miljødirektoratet, Elin worked at COWI as the Head of Section in Environmental Management from September 2003 to September 2005. Elin started their career at Østfoldforskning in October 1994, where they worked as a Forsker and gruppeleder until September 2003.

Elin Økstad completed their Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) between 1982 and 1986. Additionally, they pursued further education at RWTH Aachen University, where they obtained a Master's degree and also completed a diplomoppgave (thesis or final project).
