Jeff Wiersma

Jeff Wiersma, PhD has extensive work experience in the engineering field. Jeff started their career at Medtronic in 1994 as a Prod. Dev. Engineer and worked there until 2000. Jeff then joined Herman Miller as a Staff Engineer and served in that role for 11 years. In 2011, they transitioned to MillerKnoll where they held the position of Materials and Structures Engineering Manager until 2023. During their time at MillerKnoll, they also served as the Chief Engineer - Director of Product Innovation starting in 2023. In addition to their work at these companies, they became involved with NAFEMS in 2023, where they currently hold the position of NAFEMS Americas Planning Subcommittee Vice-Chair.

Jeff Wiersma, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of engineering. Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Grand Valley State University in 1997, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the same institution in 1995.

In 2015, Wiersma pursued further education at UCLA, where they obtained a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Engineering Mechanics. Building on this, they went on to Michigan Technological University in 2016 to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics, completing their doctoral degree in 2022.
