Sonya Parsons has had an extensive work experience in the legal field. Sonya is currently working as a Partner in NFPs, Human Rights & Social Impact at Mills Oakley since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Thomson Geer for a total of 17 years, starting as a Lawyer in May 2005 and progressing to the roles of Associate, Senior Associate, and eventually Partner in July 2017. Additionally, they gained experience as a Paralegal at Wilmer Hale from June 2002 to September 2003.

Sonya Parsons completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Canterbury, where they studied Law and History from 1996 to 2000. Sonya later pursued a Master of Philosophy degree in International Law and International Relations at the University of Cambridge from 2003 to 2004. In addition to their academic qualifications, Sonya also obtained a certification as a Nationally Accredited Mediator from the LEADR & IAMA - association of dispute resolvers.
