Melina Butuci

Melina Butuci is a Medical Science Liaison currently at MiMedx since May 2023, with prior experience in the same role at NAVERIS from August 2022 to February 2023. Melina spent over six years at Allakos Inc between May 2016 and July 2022, advancing through positions from Associate Scientist to Scientist II. Academic experience includes roles as a Research Associate at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Cambridge in 2015, and as a PhD Graduate Student at the University of Southern California from August 2010 to August 2015, with research focused on DNA double-stranded breaks and their cellular implications. Melina also conducted research on the impacts of environmental nanoparticles on neuronal and glial cells and served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California in 2009, working on Drosophila gene expression studies. Melina holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California and both a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Education and Science in Biology from the University of Zagreb.
