Tom Kent

Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Mind Foundry

Tom Kent has worked in the field of applied mathematics and computer science since 2011. Tom began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Bristol, developing motion planning algorithms for a driverless car. Tom then became a PhD student at the University of Bristol, researching future concepts in aviation. In 2011, they were appointed Senior Research Associate in Applied Mathematics & Computer Science as part of the TB-Phase project. In this role, they researched the use of Multi-Agent systems for tasking, routing and surveillance problems, using Evolutionary Algorithms, Reinforcement Learning and classical optimisation techniques. In 2022, they joined Mind Foundry as a Research Scientist.

Tom Kent completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Bristol between 2011 and 2015. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Mathematics from The University of Edinburgh between 2007 and 2011.
