Pieter Heyns has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Trainee Accountant at Ernst & Young for three years. In 2008, they joined FireID, first as a Financial Manager and later as a Business Development professional. From 2010 to 2011, Pieter worked at Journey Apps, focusing on customer development for a mobile enterprise application. In 2011, they co-founded CustomMed Orthopeadics, where they secured funding and played a key role in market entry and commercialization. Pieter then co-founded Luno (formerly BitX) in 2013, a cryptocurrency platform that grew into a global business with millions of customers. In 2022, they became a Seed Investor and Advisor for companies such as Root, Apex Pollination, and FireID. Finally, in 2023, Pieter became a Co-Founder at Mindjoy, an educational technology company.

Pieter Heyns attended Stellenbosch University from 2001 to 2003, where they obtained a BComm degree in Accounting. Pieter then went on to study at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in 2004, completing a BComm Hons degree in Accounting. In 2008, Pieter obtained the CA (SA) certification from SAICA CA(SA).
