Diego Calvopina, PhD, has a diverse range of work experience spanning various roles and industries.
Starting in 2010, Diego had an internship in the Quality Department at VISCOFAN S.A. In 2012, they worked as a Laboratory Analyst at Zurita & Zurita Laboratorios.
Diego then moved on to become a Biomedical Scientist at the Translational Research Institute Australia in 2014.
In 2015, they joined the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, first as a Clinical Trial Assistant from 2017 to 2018, then as a Scientist from 2019 to 2021, and finally as a Clinical Scientist until 2021. In this role, Diego demonstrated strong leadership and project management skills, leading multi-disciplinary teams and overseeing the establishment of a liver biobank.
In 2019, Diego also worked briefly as a University Lecturer at the Universidad de Las Américas (EC).
In 2020, Diego served as a Community Volunteer at the Instituto Nacional de Investigación en Salud Pública INSPI.
From 2021 to 2022, Diego worked as a Clinical Research Scientist at MSH Medical School Hamburg, where they developed new projects based on scientific and industry trends, presented statistical analysis, and provided guidance to junior team members.
Currently, Diego is working as an AI data manager at Mindpeak GmbH since 2022.
Throughout their career, Diego has published multiple research papers, made presentations, and secured funding for research projects. Diego is skilled in effective communication with a range of stakeholders and has expertise in time and people management.
Diego Calvopina, PhD, obtained their education in a chronological manner, starting with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology specialized in Biomedicine from the University of Navarra, which spanned from 2004 to 2011. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Biotechnology at The University of Queensland, Australia, from 2013 to 2014. Continuing their academic journey, Diego completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science/Research and Allied Professions at The University of Queensland, spanning from 2015 to 2019.
