The company operates only on previously mined land and has no greenfield operations. Much of its land has not been reclaimed after previous mining. As a part of its operations, MDL reclaims the land to its more natural state by complying with today’s regulatory standards, all while producing phosphate to help feed the world. The company’s reclamation will create land with water quality enhanced, natural vegetation reestablished, and topography returned to its natural state when possible. The company’s efforts have been supported by regulatory agencies, environmental activist groups, and large landowners involved in various agriculture ventures that all see the business as a win-win for all participants and the environment.
