Annie Hygate

Annie Hygate is a Senior Policy Advisor at the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), specializing in trade and sustainability, currently involved in initiatives such as the Agreement on Climate Change, Sustainability, and Trade (ACCTS) and advocating for New Zealand's agricultural interests at the WTO. Previously, Annie served as a Senior Policy Advisor at Kānoa - Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit, leading the implementation of a $200 million fund aimed at driving economic growth and reducing emissions in New Zealand. Annie's early career at MPI included roles as a Policy Analyst focusing on biosecurity, international relations, and emissions trading compliance. Annie holds degrees in Political Science and Social Policy from the University of Otago and has pursued further education in Māori language and environmental studies.
