Mary Direen

Mary Direen is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in communications and marketing. Currently serving as Principal Advisor Engagement and Communications at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment since October 2020, Mary also holds a secondment as Communications Team Leader, overseeing a team of senior communications advisors. Previous roles include Senior Engagement and Communications Advisor and Communications and Marketing Manager at the Cancer Society of New Zealand, where Mary developed effective strategies to enhance brand recognition and community well-being. Experience also includes significant positions at Loyalty New Zealand, where Mary managed rewards marketing initiatives, and various marketing roles in the UK, showcasing a diverse background in brand strategy and customer engagement. Mary holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Canterbury.
