Paul Liias has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of space and aerospace. Paul is currently serving as the Chair of the Administrative and Finance Committee (AFC) at the European Space Agency (ESA) since 2023. Prior to this, they worked as the Head of Space and an Expert in Space Technologies and Policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications for Estonia from 2016 to 2021. Paul also co-founded Cubehub in 2014 and served as the CEO of Radius Space Ltd from 2014 to 2016. Paul has also held roles as a Supervisor at Tallinn University of Technology and as a Mechanical Engineer at Aalto University. Paul's earlier experience includes working as the Structure and Mechanics Subsystem Manager for ESTCube-1, the first Estonian satellite, and as a Trainee at DLR, the German Aerospace Center.

Paul Liias has a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Product Development and Production Engineering from TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology. Paul obtained this degree from 2007 to 2012. Paul then pursued further education and earned a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Product Development from the same university from 2012 to 2015. In addition, they attended RWTH Aachen University from 2013 to 2014, where they obtained another Master of Engineering (MEng) degree, this time in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering.
