Avik Sarkar

Avik Sarkar, Ph.D., serves as an Expert at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) since November 2023, focusing on Responsible AI and data governance. Currently a Senior Research Fellow and Visiting Faculty at the Indian School of Business, Avik is involved in transformational research concerning the interaction of society and technology. Additional roles include membership in the Indian Datasets for Artificial Intelligence committee under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the United Nations Expert group on Big Data and Data Science. Avik has held prominent positions in various organizations, including serving as Head of the Data Analytics Cell at NITI Aayog and as a Senior Manager at Accenture. With academic credentials including a Ph.D. in Computing & Statistics from The Open University, Avik has a strong background in advanced analytics and technology policy development.
