Claudia Pieterse

Claudia Pieterse serves as the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Latvia since August 2021. Prior to this role, Pieterse directed the Economic Department at the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Italy from January 2016 to July 2021. Pieterse's extensive experience at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken includes positions as Senior Policy Officer in both the Internal Affairs Division and the External Affairs Division, focusing on Eurogroup/Ecofin matters, development cooperation, and representing the Netherlands within the Council of Europe. Additional experience includes serving as a Policy Advisor at De Nederlandsche Bank, managing fixed income portfolios, and advising on macroeconomic policy within development cooperation. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Master's in International Business from Maastricht University.
