Charles Olson has extensive experience in analysis and policy related to Māori issues. Currently serving as a Senior Analyst at the Office of Treaty Settlements within the Ministry of Justice since June 2013, Charles focuses on applications under the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011. Prior to this role, Charles worked as an Analyst at the Department of Internal Affairs from April 2004 to October 2012, and at the Palmerston North City Council from April 1996 to March 2004, where responsibilities included Māori policy, resource management, human resources, research, and education. Charles holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Massey University, earned between 1987 and 1993.
