Derek Vang

Certified Clinical Research Coordinator at Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation

Derek Vang has worked as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator at the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation since October 2019. Prior to that, they were a Study Coordinator at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from November 2015 to October 2019. Derek also worked as a Junior Scientist at the University of Minnesota from July 2010 to May 2013, and then as an Assistant Scientist from May 2013 to March 2014. During their time at the University of Minnesota, Derek conducted research on pain management in Sickle Cell Disease, Breast Cancer, Vascular biology, and prostate cancer, and co-authored research articles in scientific journals. Derek also worked as a Junior Scientist at the University of Minnesota from May 2014 to April 2015.

Derek Vang completed their Master of Biological Sciences in Neurobiology and Neurosciences from the University of Minnesota, which they attended from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology, General from Carleton College, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Additionally, Derek Vang holds a certification as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, which they obtained in September 2020.
