Boakai D. has extensive work experience in finance and accounting roles. Boakai started in 2006 as an Accountant at the Central Bank of Liberia, where they oversaw a $90M budget and managed day-to-day financial operations. Boakai also implemented financial control systems and prepared reports. In 2010, they became a Bank Examiner at the same organization, supervising daily operations and implementing financial controls to ensure compliance with GAAP. Boakai also assisted in financial planning and evaluated performance metrics. In 2020, Boakai D. joined Appetite For Change as a Controller, managing a $5.5M budget and overseeing accounting and finance operations. Boakai formulated financial oversight and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory laws and GAAP. Currently, Boakai D. holds the position of VP of Finance at Minnesota Community Care, where they advise the leadership on financial decisions and delivers accurate financial statements.
Boakai D. has a diverse education history. Boakai first attended the University of Liberia from 2003 to 2009, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Accounting & Economics.
In 2013, Boakai pursued further education and completed a Master's degree in Development Economics at both the Universidade Estadual de Campinas and the State University of Campinas, both in Brazil. This program lasted until 2015.
Boakai then continued their education in the United States, attending the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota from 2021 to 2022. Boakai earned another Master's degree, this time in Accountancy, with a specialization in the field of study.

Boakai has also received a Certificate in Information System Security from the College of Graduate and Professional Education at KSU in 2018.
Boakai has further certifications, including a Certificate in Bank Resolution & Simulation Workshop from the Kenya School of Monetary Studies & the Treasury Department, USA in 2017. Boakai also holds a Certificate in Financial Stability, Systemic Risk, and Micro Prudential Policy from the Deutsche Bundesbank, Central Bank of Germany in 2016.
Additionally, Boakai has a Certificate in Seminar for Senior Bank Supervisors from Emerging Economies obtained in 2015, which was jointly offered by the Federal Reserve System, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund. Boakai also holds a Certificate in Technical Writing and Presentation Technique Skills from the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) in 2012. Lastly, they have a Certificate in Certified Bank Examiner from the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2012.
