Allen Sommerfeld has extensive work experience in communications and public outreach. Allen started their career as an Anchor/Reporter at KEYC Television in 1999 and later worked as an Anchor/Reporter at KSFY Television from 2002 to 2007. In 2007, they joined the Minnesota Department of Agriculture as a Communications Coordinator, where they coordinated the production and distribution of external communication tools and managed the department's social media sites. From 2012 to 2013, they served as an Outreach Coordinator at the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities, developing and executing outreach plans for various projects and initiatives. In 2013, they returned to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and held positions as a Senior Communications Officer and Director of Communications. In these roles, they provided communication counsel, developed annual communications plans, and oversaw social media channels and video production projects. Additionally, since 2018, they have been working as a self-employed blogger.
Allen Sommerfeld has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Speech Communications: Radio and TV from Southwest Minnesota State University. Allen also holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Minnesota.
