Jason Swenson has a diverse work experience in the field of water resources engineering. Jason began their career at Barr Engineering as a Water Resources Engineer in 1998 and later moved on to work at Bonestroo as a Professional Engineer. In these roles, they focused on flood control, water quality, and sanitary sewer modeling, as well as development review.
In 2006, Jason joined Scott County as a Water Resources Engineer, where they provided technical support and project management in the areas of stormwater and erosion controls. Jason continued their career at Hennepin County as a Water Resources Engineer, where they contributed to stormwater modeling and project reviews for development projects.
Jason's work in the public sector includes their role as a District 2 Supervisor at the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District, where they were appointed in 2010 and elected for an additional two years. Jason also served as Vice Chair of the board in 2012.
Currently, Jason is working at the Minnesota Department of Transportation as an MS4 Engineer - Principal Engineer. In this role, they bridge the gap between water resources design, construction, and maintenance for the MnDOT drainage system. Jason leads a team responsible for inventorying and mapping the drainage system, inspecting various stormwater facilities, and managing contractors for repairs and construction needs. Additionally, they recently transitioned to the role of Metro District Water Resources Engineer - Engineer Administrative (WOOC) at MnDOT.
In addition to their professional experience, Jason was appointed by the City Council to the Planning Commission of the City of Lakeville in 2013. Jason served as the Commission's Chairperson for multiple terms, bringing their expertise in planning and leadership to the role.
Jason Swenson attended Colorado State University from 1993 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
