Sara Pflaum

Sara (Schmitt) Pflaum has extensive experience in transportation engineering and project management, currently serving as the Manager of Design and Engineering for the Purple Line BRT Project at the Minnesota Department of Transportation since December 2017. Prior roles include Principal Engineer and Program Support Engineer within the same department, as well as Principal Engineer and Engineer at Metro Transit from April 2012 to December 2017. Sara's previous experience includes working as a Transportation Engineer at the University of Minnesota, where responsibilities included managing Transportation Management Plans for large events, and as a Design Team Supervisor/Assistant Project Engineer at the Washington State Department of Transportation, where Sara led design team operations and managed project scope changes. Early career experience involved work as an Engineering Technician for Snohomish County Public Works. Sara holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota, obtained between 1996 and 2002, with a focus on civil engineering and Spanish.
