Sheila Kauppi has extensive experience with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, having held various leadership roles since joining the organization in 1999. Currently serving as the Metro Deputy District Engineer, Kauppi has also acted as the Metro District North Area Manager, Planning and Data Analysis Program Director, and Metro District South Area Manager. Previous positions include MnDOT South Area Engineer, South Metro Area Traffic Engineer, Assistant Preliminary Bridge Design Engineer, and Hydraulic Design Engineer. Throughout this career, Kauppi has coordinated construction projects, conducted traffic engineering studies, managed preliminary bridge design and hydraulic analysis, and successfully directed both MnDOT staff and consultants. Kauppi earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University.
