Simon Schaefer has extensive experience in leadership and strategic planning within the military. Simon served as the Director of Strategic Plans and Policy at the Minnesota National Guard, where they led cross-functional teams in developing strategic plans and identifying opportunities for growth. Simon also served as the Chief of Staff at the Minnesota National Guard, overseeing partnerships, budget actions, forecasting requirements, and leading a large staff. Simon was also the Brigade Commander at the Iowa Army National Guard, responsible for operations, planning, and equipment management. Additionally, Simon served as the Chief Operating Officer at the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, where they led the development of training and operating guidance and managed a training budget. Simon also held the role of Personnel Officer at the Minnesota National Guard, focusing on personnel management.
Simon Schaefer received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology; Fisheries, Wildlife, Ecology, and Behavior from North Dakota State University between 1995 and 1998. Simon then pursued a Master of Science in Public Safety Executive Leadership (PSEL) from St. Cloud State University from 2003 to 2006. In 2009 and 2011, they obtained an Emergency Management Certificate from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Later, from 2015 to 2017, they completed a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from The United States Army War College.
