Mike Grahl

Chief Marketing Officer at Minnesota Timberwolves

Mike Grahl enters his third season as Chief Marketing Officer for the Timberwolves and Lynx. Grahl oversees Brand Marketing, Content, Digital Innovation, Creative Services, Retail and Live Programming and Events for the Timberwolves, Lynx and T-Wolves Gaming.

In his first two seasons, Grahl has led the organization’s marketing team, which has been recognized by multiple honors including a Silver CLIO and Hashtag sports awards for Prince Inspired City Edition Campaign, an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy for Lindsay Whalen’s Jersey Retirement, and NBA Digital Innovator Award.

Under his leadership, the organization has enhanced its data-driven strategies to achieve significant growth in digital corporate partnerships and ticket sales. The organization has seen substantial growth and received recognition for their retail efforts and innovative campaigns through creative collaborations on Prince Inspired City Edition, local apparel companies Cities Edition Collection, HBO’s Game of Thrones Direwolves Collection and D’Angelo Russell’s “I Love Minnesota” t-shirt benefitting Secondhand Hounds. Additionally, Grahl has orchestrated significant updates to the teams’ apps and websites with a focus on mobile marketing, lead and demand generation, and marketing automation. For the start of the 2020-21 season, Grahl and his marketing team, along with the help of AOR Fallon, will introduce a new marketing and brand campaign, Raised By Wolves. The campaign’s signature video spot, set to Big Sean and Post Malone’s ‘Wolves,’ sets a tone that speaks to both court and culture.

Prior to joining the Timberwolves and Lynx in 2018, Grahl was with the Milwaukee Bucks for the first 20 years of his professional career, most recently as Chief Digital Officer. Grahl currently serves on the NBA Team Marketing Advisory Board as well as the Minneapolis Warehouse District Association Board. Grahl graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he earned a BBA in Marketing and played varsity baseball all four years. He is an active participant in the Timberwolves and Lynx Fastbreak Foundation.

Grahl lives in Eagan with his wife Aimee and their three children.
