Winter Keefer is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in reporting and editorial roles. Currently serving as a Metro Reporter at MinnPost since March 2024, Winter previously held the position of Associate Editor at Twin Cities Business from January 2022 to March 2024. Winter's career includes reporting on crime, court proceedings, and community issues at The Flint Journal from May 2019 to December 2021 and covering various topics as a Reporting Intern at MLive.com from July 2018 to May 2019. Winter's editorial experience began as Editor in Chief at NMU's The North Wind, overseeing a team to produce a weekly newspaper while managing content and social media. Additional roles include working as a Circulation/Reference Worker at NMU’s library and a Student Intern at ABC10 & CW5 UP. Winter graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2018.

Both Twin Cities daily newspapers were reeling from dramatic revenue drops as the Internet decimated their classified and display advertising, and emerging free online content led consumers to think that maybe they didn’t have to pay for the news.
