Joel Q. has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Joel started their career at Arcadian Projects Inc. in 2011, where they worked as a Solar Energy and Sales specialist, responsible for managing the entire sales process for renewable energy projects. In 2013, they joined Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro Inc. as an Energy Efficiency, Conservation, and Demand Management manager, where they successfully implemented energy efficiency projects and established partnerships with commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional customers.
In 2016, Joel joined Miovision as a Customer Success Manager for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), providing cloud-based smart traffic technologies to customers across North America. Here, they played a key role in growing the TrafficLink product line and managed a large portfolio of SaaS accounts.
Afterward, Joel transitioned to Siemens in 2018 as an Account Executive in the Smart Infrastructure sector. Joel focused on delivering innovative, data-driven technologies to customers in the Higher Education, Municipal, Healthcare, and Private Industry markets, helping them achieve their technology and sustainability goals.
Joel returned to Miovision in 2020, this time taking on the role of Senior Sales Engineer and Account Manager. Joel has been responsible for driving the adoption and utilization of the company's Smart City solution, managing customer accounts, increasing annual recurring revenue, and facilitating new feature upgrades.
Additionally, Joel has recently taken on a role at Conestoga College in 2021 as a Professor and Curriculum Development specialist for Renewable Energy Techniques. Joel contributes to preparing students for successful careers in the renewable energy field by imparting the skills and knowledge needed for creating, installing, and maintaining functional renewable energy systems.
Joel Q. obtained a Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from Lambton College. In addition to their degree, they have pursued several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Joel obtained the certification of Teaching at Conestoga from Conestoga College in December 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a certification in Workplace Electrical Safety from the Electrical Safety Authority in April 2018. Furthermore, Joel holds the title of Certified Energy Manager, which they obtained from the Association of Energy Engineers in January 2016. Joel also completed the Comprehensive Training for Energy Managers offered by The Association of Energy Engineers in November 2015. Additionally, Joel obtained certifications in CDM Economics from The MEARIE Group in October 2014, Fan Technology Workshop from the Canadian Machinery Vibration Association in May 2014, Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems from The Canadian Institute for Energy Training in April 2014, and Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) - Electrical Discipline from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) in February 2014.
